Francisco Pizarro
Francisco Pizarro is an explorer, soldier, and conquistador. He is famous for conquering the Incas and killing their last leader, Atahualpa. Pizarro was born around 1474 in Trujillo, Spain. He discovered the Pacific Ocean in one of his voyages. In a partnership with Diego de Almagro, Pizarro arrived in modern day Peru in 1526. In 1532, he and his 3 half brothers entered the city of Cajamarca when the Inca leader Atahualpa was celebrating his victory over his brother. Pizarro took Atahualpa as hostage and executed him in 1533. Pizarro later conquered Cuzco and founded the city of Lima, modern day capital city.
